Connected Speech Secrets: LINKING SOUNDS

Caption

Hello, english fellows! Today, we’re going to learn about something that will make your English sound smoother: Linking sounds!

Listen carefully. When we speak English, sometimes words connect. It’s like they hold hands! For example, listen to “Anapple” and “She’sOverThere”.

Did you hear how the sounds connect? Let’s see how this works!

One way words link is when a word ends with a consonant sound and the next word begins with a vowel sound.

We often join these sounds together.

So, “An apple” can sound like “A napple”. Another example is “She’s over there”. You can say “She’sOverThere”.

Also, with words like “I’m Antonio”. You can say “I’mAntonio”

Conclusion: Linking Sounds

Linking sounds help English flow more smoothly.  Don’t worry if it sounds a little different at first.  Just listen carefully when native speakers talk, and you’ll start to hear these connections.

Thanks for watching! Keep practicing and happy speaking!
