This has been especially true since Hamas\u2019s incursion into Israel on October 7, 2023. Anti-Islamic incidents have seen a significant increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the victims was a 6-year-old girl named Wadea Al-Fayoume who lived in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She lost her life at the hands of the landlord of the apartment where her parents lived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This act was clearly heinous and filled with hatred. So what should parents do? In the 1930s, many Muslim immigrants were denied entry into the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the September 11 attacks, the U.S. also experienced a powerful wave of anti-Islam sentiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the country has a foreign policy that legitimizes the \u201cwar on terror,\u201d which has caused suffering in predominantly Muslim regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This situation is exacerbated by the fact that Islamophobia is often linked to specific races and ethnicities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, Arab Christians and Indian Sikhs are frequently subjected to discrimination because they are perceived as \u201cMuslim terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-kenapa-orangtua-perlu-mengatasi-islamofobia-\">Why Do Parents Need to Address Islamophobia?<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Western countries, whether in Europe or the Americas, do indeed have issues with negative sentiment toward people of color, particularly those who are Muslim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, quite a number of people on both continents realize that this is wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The question is, should Indonesian parents also be prepared for this phenomenon?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Muslims make up the majority of the population, at 87%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless, Indonesian parents also need to teach their children to avoid Islamophobic thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is because the West exerts an extraordinary influence across various aspects of society. Massive consumption of Western media can lead to hatred toward Islam among children in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without proper guidance, exposure to Western media can cause children to experience \u201cself-hatred\u201d or hatred toward themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If left unchecked, children will face an identity crisis and adopt Western culture, which actually rejects their religious roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, there is a possibility that one day Indonesian children will go abroad to study or work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without an understanding of the phenomenon of Islamophobia, children may be shocked, so parents need to warn them early on.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-cara-mengatasi-islamofobia-pada-anak-\">How to Address Islamophobia in Children<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) reports that at least 35% of Muslim students in the United States have encountered classmates posting anti-Islamic rhetoric on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this reason, CAIR states that American children need to be educated about the dangers of Islamophobia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is essential to educate children to speak up when they witness Islamophobic behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Read Also<\/strong>: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vivalakidsworld.com\/parents\/sibling-bullying-mengancam-mental-anak\/\"><\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vivalakidsworld.com\/parents\/sibling-bullying-mengancam-mental-anak\/\">Warning!
